Well Dear Readers,
After an excellent run of results this game was more than a wee bit of a disappointment for everyone concerned, especially the players themselves. The County lads looked jaded after their very busy week-end at Preston, (and ski-ing), and this showed in a poor team performance. They failed to concentrate at crucial times, especially when defending corners and free kicks. At one corner the opposition quickly played it short - there were 3 Erskine players in a wide poistion and not a County defender close-by. This led to an easily taken goal.
County also failed to challenge on may occassions, and stood back from 50/50 balls - they didn't even bother to claim for throw-ins and other awards that were clearly theirs.
Worse of all was the failure to occupy the pitch as a team - the lads crowded around the ball at times and forgot how to pass, especially up front, and got caught out in counter attacks.
That said, County scored three fine goals and showed flashes of excellent play.
Erskine deserve a special mention as they proved to be a well organised team with bags of team spirit and several excellent performances, especially in midfield and up front. The game was also played in a super spirit with the ref having a great game also.
Coaches MOM = Michael. Always in the thick of things and showed great passion.
Supporters MOM = Euan. One of the few players who took time to look up and create an opening pass.
Coaches comments "Listen to this guys -we are all quite rightly disappointed. However, the sign of a really good team is how they respond to adversity. We are one of the best teams in the league and we will demonstrate this by picking ourselves-up, learning from our experience, and going into our next match with confidence and pride.
See you all at Williamwood at 07:45 Tuesday for some light training before our big game on Wednesday at Muirend"
Come on you pieesss!!!!!!!!!
