Considering this was our first game in a month and illness robbed us of a few players, this was a creditable performance against the Scottish Cup finalists of the last two years.
As usual, we gave Hillwood a one goal start when we lost a goal after only three minutes. We more than held our own until nearly half-time before we lost another poor goal. The heads were down a bit at the break but everyone continued to give their all, and a few players managed to improve on an already decent first half performance.
One more poor goal, and one that looked suspicously offside saw us go four behind with 10 minutes to go before Jack nicked one back, a goal that was just reward for a fantastic display.
There is no shame in losing to such a good side but had we had regular games, and the match sharpness that that brings, I suspect we could given Hillwood an even better game than we did (although, to be fair, they were always the better team).
The only way to get that fitness and sharpness is to up the efforts at training and, hopefully, get regular games. Let's see 100% effort this Monday and Thursday.
