Hello again dear readers.

Probably the only game on in the west today saw County take on a much improved East End Utd. at Lady Octavia all weather pitch in Greenock.Windy and a very hard ,bumpy surface with determined opponents always meant we were in for a hard game, and so it proved.
East End were up for it from the very start and in 15 mins. they were 2 up after cutting through the County midfield and defence with two very similar goals....everyone appeared to be spectators as they played balls just behind the defence and ran through to slot home with great ease.
Last season we tended to start very strongly and blow people away in the first 20 minutes....but this year it is totally the opposite. We have fallen behind in the last 5 games now,,,something for the coaches to think about and work on!!
However, this did energise County and we stepped up considerably and got to grips with the pitch and the match
Paul and Jack led the way with a strong running and physical display that gave confidence to the rest of the team and we steadily created chances....although we failed to take any of them. Was it going to be one of thos days that had all the othe teams staring in disbelief at the P+D results section?.......Not on your Nelly!!!

Alovely ball from Leo to Euan resulted in a throw in down the right and Euan took an excellent throw into the area where Jack was clearly pushed off the ball and a penaltywas awarded which Jack dispatched with aplomb....get in!
10 minutes later a wonderful move down the left involving Tom,Liam and Paul ended witha fantastic run and cross by Paul and Jack came tearing in at the far post to side foot home.2-2 at half time.
The coaches had to make a number of changes and asked for greater commitment in all positons all over the pitch. The lads responded superbly and the second half saw a big improvement ,from defence where Anton,Tam ,Kevin and, especially Callum, contested every ball and won most of them, often preventing the ball from bouncing and getting a challenge in first. This is what is needed lads!!

With Jack operating in midfield and Dougie looking dangerous up front with Paul, it was a relief to see Paul take one of the chances he was creating for everyone hiself as ha was fed by Mark through on goal and dispatched with real class....this is a real improvement in your game Paul....very well done!
3-2 and in the lead at last.
Whilst E-E tried manfully to get back in the game they did not reall get into our box at all and Lewis only had the awkward kick outs to deal with...the sign of a good 11 man defence. This was typified by Joe and Tom who worked tirelessly down the flanks and suppoted the full backs and the front men in equal measure.Great fitness levels guys!

However ,the coaches knew hat a long shot or a bobble or a deflection was all that was needed to lose 3 points and it was a major relief for the fans and coaches to see anothet great run from Paul be met beautifully by Mark who volled into the net from 12 yards....4-2 and game over.A cameo run and dribble with a beautifully timed pass from Liam almost set up a 5th but just wide.
So 4-2 win and lots of lessons for us again. We played below par in the first half especially but fought well and EVERYONE played their part in a good comeback.Well done to you all.
Paul got a deserved supp.MOM after a tremendous performance, just in front of Jack and Joe,and Callum got coaches MOM for his tremendous reading of the game and a series of interceptions and tackles...well done Paul and Callum!!!!!
