What a good friendly match. Spiders were well-prepared and organised; keeping their shape and composure in all areas of the park, and passing the ball neatly out of defence.
It took a long time for County to break through the Spiders defence - it wasn't until the last 12 minutes before County scored. Up to this point Spiders had some good chances, so did County, but he moment of the match was a spectacular save from Greg in the Spiders goal. He srung quickly of the ground diving high to push a rocket shot over the bar - well done Greg.
When they finally came, the 3 County goals were top-notch,
(1) A long run and low shot, placed accurately into the net. Well done Joe.
(2) A powered volley from a corner - unstoppable. Well done Tom.
(3) A breakthrough and chip over the keeper - well done Jack.
Both teams passed the ball about really well at times, and County looked very impressive at the back, showing how to calm things down by passing and switching play into space across the pitch. Although, the icy conditions and fast playing surface at Williamwood meant the ball was dificult for everyone to control.
The County MOM was Mr 'Perpetual Motion' Euan - He looked just like a professional striker, with his diagonal runs and shots, causing all sorts of problems for the defenders. Euan earned a penalty which he placed perfectly - only to be thwarted by another magnificent save from Greg.
Well done to Spiders - they demonstrated good team work and fighting spirit and played as well as any team we've met in the P&D league.
Have a happy xmas everyone and watch-out for details of our next match.
