After a 2 week break we were up against unbeaten Hitchin Town Supporters looking to continue our own unbeaten start to the season. Two evenly matched teams in the first half were seperated only by a bad mistake by our goalkeeper which gifted Hitchin a 1-0 lead.
In the second half we were much the stronger side and only poor finishing and some good saves by the opposing keeper kept Hitchin ahead. Eventually Ian Napier skipped through to equalise.
It seemed the match would end in a draw until Hitchin were awarded a very dubious penalty, not the best of taken penalties squeezed under the keeper to give Hitchin a 2-1 lead with minutes to go.
A rather inept performance by the referee ended with a red card apiece for a fracas on the side line.
With the game almost over Ian Napier latched onto a long ball and calmly finished to ensure we did not leave the game undeservedly empty handed.
An encouraging game from Bar Absolute.
