GSC 2000 - Season 2009/10 Information

Its fast approaching the start of the football season and I am sure you are wondering what is happening with your sons GSC team this year.

We hope this email gives you a detailed picture of all the information you need.

_Colin McNab_

Colin McNab was previously the lead coach for the 2000 age group at GSC, unfortunately he has had to drop out this year. We would like to thank Colin for his effort and dedication in bringing the boys on these last 2 years.

_Coaches_

With no single lead coach driving all activities forward this year several of the coaches are in the process of picking up responsibility for this age group in GSC. The coaches picking up the responsibility are Ray Alexander, Kenny Lang, Richard Lowrie, Alasdair MacKenzie, Donald MacLennan, Tricia Madden, Ian McIntosh, and Tony Waters.

The above team will pick up responsibility for all GSC club administration, ERSDA administration, coaching qualifications, Training lets & equipment, training plans, goalkeeping plans, soccer centre transitions, newsletter, strips and training gear, player subscriptions and communication with parents.

As you can see there is quite a list and we will look for your support, more on that later.

_Training_

Training will be in the cage at Muirend Pavilion on Thursday evenings. Any changes in training locations will be communicated to all parents, we are trying to secure more space to ensure a positive training session for the boys and coaches. We start back Thursday 13th August and will communicate to all. Keep an eye on the club news banner as we will publish all dates there.

https://giffnocksoccercentre.co.uk/52971/club_news.pl

We ask that boys are dropped off at 6.30pm, as the time before this is there to allow the coaches preparation time to set up the training plans.

The training plans will cover warm ups, skills development and a short game time at the end. The training groups will be mixed up into groups of no more than 9 and different from their Saturday teams. This is to foster a GSC team spirit across all 5 teams.

The boys should be picked up promptly at 7.45pm

We also have a dedicated goalkeeping training evening on Friday evenings at the Muirend cage that all boys are welcome to join, more details will be supplied once we confirm the training lets.

_Teams_

With the number of boys growing in the club we will have 5 teams entered this year with the following coaches: -

Inter Donald

Juventus - Alasdair

Lazio Kenny

Milan Tony

Roma - Tricia

As we are moving from 4 teams to 5 there will be some small changes in the teams and these will be communicated prior to the training session on Thursday 13^th August in preparation for the games on August 15^th .

The intention is to have 45 boys across 5 teams. As we progress towards 11-a side that would allow us to develop 3 teams with a squad of 15 in each.

_Games_

We have notified ERSDA that the GSC 2000 teams will be able to fulfil their fixtures from Saturday 15^th August onwards. I have attached the fixture list that runs until October 31^st . If you are unable to open the attachment the fixtures can be found at the following web location: -

http://www.ersda.co.uk/Fixtures/2000.pdf

As you will see from the fixture list there are games this Saturday, however we have elected not to participate as the teams have not been finalised and there is a significant amount of people still away on holidays.

_Support_

While we have a named coach for each team we are looking for parents who are willing to act as support coaches. This would involve being available to take the team on a Saturday should the named coach be unable to attend. Also to be available to assist in the Thursday night training sessions.

If you are able to assist you would be supported by the named coaches and given details on the training plans for the Thursday night.

If you are able to offer your help please approach any of the named coaches above.

With your help and support I am sure the boys will enjoy their season of football ahead. We do not have email addresses for all parents so please pass this on to those you know.

Many Thanks,

Ray, Kenny, Richard, Alasdair, Donald, Tricia, Ian, Tony.
